So excited!

I am so excited for Christmas! Usually it sort of jumps up out of nowhere, but this year I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival. Maybe it's because Parker talks about it nonstop, or possibly because WalMart was playing Christmas music the day after Halloween. Who knows, but I am positively about to burst waiting to get out all the decorations! There have been so many cute craft ideas in blogland this week. I need to run to Hobby Lobby as fast as possible and pick up every crafty supply they have. Well, maybe not, but I am seriously giving it some thought! Just A Girl is having an "I can make that" party where different bloggers send in ideas for homemade gifts. While I have no original ideas , I am happy to copy some of theirs. And there are some CUTE ones! Definitely go check it out!

Look what I found...

in my bed this morning! When I got out of the shower, there laid my sweet Parker. I of course had to grab the camera to catch the moment. It only lasted for a second, then he was off! He was not this still again all day. Sigh...

Miss Poppy

Friday night Brynn was asked to be a "Miss Poppy" for the Loganville American Legion Anniversary Dinner. Her job was to sell poppies for donations to be given to veterans. She and six other girls dressed in red and wore crowns and sashes. They walked from table to table with their baskets of poppies and collected money. As you can imagine, they pulled in quite a bit! They were all so adorable and as sweet as can be. We are so glad Brynn had the opportunity to participate in this. She was excited to have collected so much money to help out the "soldiers". It was a great lesson learned about the generosity of others. What a terrific evening!

Introducing Miss Finky Hunkiedoodle...

This is Brynn's new "character". And yes, she named her all by herself. She wears my sunglasses and is quite the Southern Belle. Drawl and everything. Okay, this is seriously the cutest thing ever. Well, I may be a bit partial, but I'm just sayin... HI.LAR.I.OUS! Really...

Voting Day

This morning Greg got up super early and went to vote. He got there at like 5:30 or something crazy like that. He was home by 7:30 though, so that was a plus. Oh, and he brought home some yummy breakfast. Gotta love that guy! I decided I would take Brynn with me so we could use the voting process to teach a lesson later in the day. We left at a much more reasonable time(9:30) and it only took us 10 minutes! Now, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. I'm hoping people were just going to go after work or possibly had voted early. No matter where you stand on this election, you really need to make your voice heard.

On a different note, I took some pictres of the kids outside today. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow. I'm new at this blog thing remember, and I'm not sure I can figure this out. Wish me luck!

What.A.Day.

Remember how I said there is some craziness involved in homeschooling? Yeah, well, maybe a little of that today. I don't know, maybe it was the time change or whatever, but we have just been off today. The kids are still getting up an hour earlier. 6:45, yep, I said 6:45. What is that about? So of course they are getting hungry an hour earlier, so every meal is served an hour earlier. Parker was cranky during school time, so he left the table and rested on the couch. Brynn did great! So great, in fact, that we spent an HOUR on math. What a change from the beginning of the year. She just hated math and we were both crying at the end of the lesson. As much as I love her thirst for knowledge, it sometimes gets us off pace. I know it's not a big deal, but like I said, things were just off all the way around. Mondays are one of her gymnastics practice days, so we really need to stay on task to get everything done. Then, right before we were about to walk out the door, Parker comes inside from the yard covered in something. I'll not go into details, but just know it did not smell good. So we rushed to take a shower and jumped in the car. Luckily, things calmed down considerably once we got to the gym and I had some time to chat with friends. Now, it is bedtime and hopes for a more "in sync" day tomorrow.

A Little About Us

Maybe you would like to know a little about us, hmmm? No? Well, I like to talk so I'm gonna tell you anyway. :) We are a family of four Mommy (me), Daddy (Greg), Brynn (6) and Parker (5). We are currently living with my mother in her 3 bedroom ranch while our house sells. Hence, a "cozy nest". It was the best description I could come up with. I stay home with the children and have since their births. I am currently homeschooling them and plan to do so for the forseeable future. There are days though, wow, are there days. My sweet hubby and I have just celebrated our 10 year anniversary. I can totally not believe it! He is the light of my life and my rock. I couldn't imagine my life without him. Well, I think I'm going to stop here so I have more to talk about. But seriously, I love to talk. I may be talking to myself, but I'll pretend someone is listening.

My First Post!

So, here we are. My first time blogging. I will be the first to admit when I heard about this thing called blogging, I thought "why on earth would anyone read about someone else's life?" Now I am so addicted to the blogs I follow, I can't go a day without looking. Anywho, I'm not sure what I will be writing about here, but hopefully I will find my way and I hope you all come visit and enjoy. I'm sure I'll come up with something!
